Jake Bauers looks to regain All-Star form during a busy seven-game week

Bauers has scuffled recently, batting .176 over his last 14 days, though he did connect for his 14th home run of the year on June 24. He remains a vital multi-positional asset for the first-place Brewers, who lead the NL Central with a 50-31 record. While currently slotted as the primary backup at first base and across the outfield corners, he continues to see frequent action as a primary left-handed power threat.

His .262 average and .863 OPS on the season represent a significant breakout compared to the .201 mark he posted in 2024. While our models project some regression toward a .213 average for the remainder of the year, his 14 home runs through 72 games suggest the power surge is legitimate. His career-high walk rate and improved clarity at the plate provide a much safer floor than his previous tenure in New York or Cleveland.

The Brewers have a full seven-game slate this week, starting with a four-game series against the Reds before heading to Arizona. Bauers gets a chance to feast on struggling arms like Nick Lodolo and his 5.59 ERA or Merrill Kelly and his 5.84 ERA, though he faces a stiff challenge against Chase Burns and his elite 2.36 ERA. Given the heavy volume of games and several favorable matchups early in the week, he is worth deploying in most formats. Start.
