David Peterson | Fantasy Outlook

David Peterson brings strong recent momentum into a tough divisional matchup

Peterson has settled into the Cubs rotation effectively, posting a strong 2.87 ERA alongside 32 strikeouts across 28.2 innings over his last 30 days. With injuries to Justin Steele and Ben Brown testing Chicago's pitching staff, the veteran southpaw has solidified his role as a key back-end starter for the second-place Cubs (77-60) as they push for the postseason.

While his recent run prevention has been impressive, an elevated 1.52 WHIP over the past month suggests regression toward our projected 3.98 ERA baseline is likely looming. Peterson continues to generate high strikeout upside with over a strikeout per inning, but command inconsistencies leave him vulnerable whenever batted balls fail to find gloves.

Peterson is slated for a single outing this week on Wednesday at home against the division-leading Brewers. It represents a difficult test against a dangerous Milwaukee lineup and opposing ace Jacob Misiorowski (1.73 ERA), limiting his margin for error and win probability. Sit.
