Luis Castillo | Fantasy Outlook

Luis Castillo has stabilized his season with a series of efficient performances, providing the ratio relief fantasy managers have been waiting for.

Castillo has found his rhythm recently, delivering a strong 2.25 ERA and 0.92 WHIP over his last 12 innings of work. He remains a crucial piece for the first-place Mariners, who sit at 47-44 and are fighting to stay atop the AL West despite several injuries to the starting lineup. While the team experimented with piggyback roles earlier this summer, his current form has solidified his standing as a primary rotation staple.

His season-long 4.94 ERA is inflated by a difficult start to the year, but his underlying numbers over the last 30 days—including a 3.41 ERA and a 4.20 K/BB ratio—suggest he is returning to his career baseline. Our models project him to finish the year with roughly 177 innings and an ERA closer to our 3.76 projection, making his current hot streak look like a legitimate correction rather than a fluke. Fantasy managers should trust the track record of this veteran right-hander.

Seattle travels to Miami and Tampa Bay this week for six road contests. Castillo is scheduled for a start where he may face a tough Marlins staff led by Max Meyer and his 2.53 ERA.
