Mark Vientos sidelined indefinitely with fractured right hand

Vientos' season has been put on hold after he suffered a fractured right hand on July 9, landing him on the injured list for the foreseeable future. He is expected to be out until late August, a major blow for a fifth-place Mets team that is currently 40-57 and riding a three-game losing streak. With Vientos sidelined, our data confirms the team has shifted their lineup to utilize Jared Young as the primary starter at first base.

Before the injury, Vientos was providing decent power with 11 home runs through 73 games, nearly matching our season projection of 12 despite a disappointing .211 batting average.
