Hayden Wesneski shines post-surgery and offers prime two-start fantasy value

Wesneski has been sensational in his return from Tommy John surgery, compiling a pristine 0.75 ERA and 0.67 WHIP across 12 frames over his last two starts, headlined by a seven-inning, one-hit shutout. The right-hander has defied workload limits and solidified his place in the rotation for the first-place Astros (73-71) as they look to hold off Texas in the AL West pennant race.

Through seven starts, Wesneski owns a 3.21 ERA and 1.07 WHIP, significantly outpacing both his career numbers and our 4.15 ERA baseline projection. While a modest strikeout rate warns that his microscopic WHIP may experience minor regression, his elite pitch efficiency and consistent soft-contact generation confirm that his second-half breakout is no fluke.
