Ryan Pepiot remains sidelined following season-ending hip surgery

Pepiot has not pitched this year after undergoing right hip surgery in May, which officially shut him down for the entire 2026 season. Even without him in the rotation, the first-place Rays are rolling at 87-58 and riding a two-game winning streak atop the AL East. He remains on the 60-day injured list with his sights set on 2027 spring training.

The missed campaign is an unfortunate halt to his progression following a solid 2025 season where he posted a 4.00 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP with 167 strikeouts over 164.1 innings. With our projections confirming zero rest-of-season output, there is no underlying statistical turnaround to anticipate down the stretch this September.

Looking ahead, Tampa Bay finishes their current road trip before welcoming the Astros for a three-game weekend set, with Pepiot not factoring into the pitching plans. With no pathway to return this year, he can be comfortably discarded in all redraft formats. Drop.
