Freddy Peralta seeks rotation stability with the first-place Rays amid ratio struggles

Peralta has endured an uneven transition since joining the first-place Rays (77-53), pitching to a 5.23 ERA and 1.10 WHIP across 17.2 innings over his last 14 days. While he has limited walks recently, early-inning damage continues to inflate his earned runs. He remains locked in as a mid-rotation starter for Tampa Bay as they maintain their division lead.

It has been a difficult 2026 campaign overall for Peralta, whose 5.40 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through 130.1 innings lag behind our projection of a 3.54 ERA. His strikeout rate of 8.9 K/9 represents a steep drop from his career norms. While improved command over his past three starts offers optimism, his inconsistent command keeps his fantasy floor shaky.

Peralta is scheduled for a single outing this week on Wednesday on the road against Detroit, opposing Troy Melton. With our weekly projection forecasting an ERA above 5.40 across 5.1 innings, the one-start volume does not justify the ratio risk in standard formats. Sit.
