Framber Valdez lines up for a two-start week as Detroit looks to snap its slide

Valdez continues to anchor the rotation for a second-place Tigers squad sitting at 60-64 on a three-game skid. While he generated a 2.95 ERA over his last 14 days, command woes persisted with five walks across 5.2 innings last time out. With rotation mates like Jack Flaherty sidelined, Detroit relies heavily on the veteran southpaw to shoulder quality innings.

Across 24 starts this season, Valdez carries a 4.33 ERA and 1.40 WHIP, underperforming our projected 3.39 ERA baseline. His strikeout-to-walk metrics have dropped from career standards, but his signature heavy sinker remains effective at limiting barrels. Expect positive ratio regression toward his established mid-rotation norms over the final six weeks.
