Robert Suarez | Fantasy Outlook

Robert Suarez remains sidelined by elbow inflammation as the first-place Braves surge

Suarez has not pitched since late June due to persistent right elbow inflammation, keeping him on the injured list while the division-leading Braves ride a red-hot seven-game winning streak. Prior to being sidelined, the veteran reliever was nearly unhittable in late-inning relief, posting a stellar 0.59 ERA, a 0.88 WHIP, and 12 holds across 30.2 innings of work.

Although his early-season ratio dominance was due for some regression toward our projected 3.63 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, Suarez proved his past 40-save campaigns in San Diego were no fluke. If he can ramp up and rejoin Atlanta's bullpen ahead of October, his ability to generate swings and misses makes him a valuable high-leverage ratio stabilizer.

Atlanta embarks on a six-game schedule this week featuring series against San Francisco, Washington, and Philadelphia. With Suarez still not activated from the injured list, fantasy managers should keep him stashed in an IL slot while benching him in active lineups. Sit.
