Shea Langeliers sidelined indefinitely following a torn knee meniscus

Shea Langeliers has been sidelined since late July after suffering a torn knee meniscus, halting what had been a productive stretch for the catcher. The Athletics enter the week with a 47-71 record, ranking fourth in the American League West. With Langeliers on the injured list, Jonah Heim has stepped in as the primary catching option for the team.

Before the injury cut his campaign short, Langeliers was tracking nicely against his career norms, belting 23 home runs and maintaining a .263 batting average across 93 games. His recent 30-day window showed a strong .294 average, highlighting his value as a rare power source at the catching position. Unfortunately, managers can no longer count on these ratios or counting stats as he focuses on recovery.

The Athletics are slated for a six-game homestand, kicking off with three games against Tampa Bay before hosting Texas over the weekend. Facing tough arms like Nick Martinez and Drew Rasmussen will be up to the active roster, as Langeliers will not take the field. Given the significant absence and the likelihood that he misses the rest of the year, fantasy managers should make alternate plans. Drop.
