Despite the ice-cold stretch, he remains locked in as the everyday first baseman for a fourth-place Tigers squad (63-73) that is navigating injuries to key middle-of-the-order bats like Riley Greene and Kerry Carpenter.

While Torkelson has already reached the 20-homer plateau in 2026, his .220 season average and 32 punchouts across his last 25 games highlight his recurring contact woes. Our models project him to hover around a .233 average with modest power, but his prolonged August drought confirms that his extreme swing-and-miss tendencies remain a persistent liability.
