Jeffrey Springs | Fantasy Outlook

Jeffrey Springs remains a major ratio liability heading into tough Seattle matchup

Springs continues to endure a rough campaign for the fourth-place Athletics (53-84), surrendering an 8.60 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over 13.2 innings in his last three appearances. Primarily serving as a spot starter and swingman out of the bullpen, the veteran southpaw has been hit hard and currently holds a 3-13 record on the year.

While our season projection anticipated a bounce back with a 4.45 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, his actual 6.59 ERA and 1.55 WHIP across 118.2 frames indicate that this extended slump is no fluke. His strikeout rate has dipped to just 7.4 K/9, giving him very little margin for error when baserunners reach.

Springs is scheduled for a lone start on Friday in Seattle against Mariners starter Logan Gilbert, who boasts a strong 3.47 ERA and 1.05 WHIP. Our weekly projection foresees another tough outing with an ERA over 6.00 across 5.2 innings, making him an easy fade in all fantasy formats. Sit.
