Jack Flaherty | Fantasy Outlook

Jack Flaherty remains sidelined with flexor inflammation as Tigers navigate late-season slate

Flaherty has not pitched recently as he continues to recover from right flexor inflammation that landed him on the injured list in late July. His absence leaves him off Detroit's active rotation while the fourth-place Tigers (65-78) navigate a tough stretch after dropping seven of their last ten games. With no rehab assignment yet announced, Detroit continues to rely on young arms to fill out the rotation.

Before landing on the shelf, Flaherty produced a 4.75 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 83.3 innings, though he maintained strong strikeout stuff with 102 punchouts. That elevated ratio profile lagged behind our projection of a 4.11 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, driven largely by inconsistent command. Given the delicate nature of forearm strains, any potential late-season return would likely feature cautious pitch counts.

Detroit hosts Minnesota and Colorado this week, but Flaherty is not scheduled for any outings and our projection forecasts zero innings. Fantasy managers should not count on him for active lineups during this homestand as his recovery continues. Keep him on the injured list until he resumes throwing in live games. Sit.
