Jack Flaherty | Fantasy Outlook

Jack Flaherty flashes elite strikeout upside as he anchors a depleted Tigers rotation.

Flaherty has shown signs of life lately, posting a 2.70 ERA and 13 strikeouts over his last 10.0 innings. He serves as the staff anchor for the fifth-place Tigers, who are currently navigating major rotation injuries to Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize. Despite some rough outings earlier in the year, he remains locked into the primary starting slot.

While his current 5.54 ERA and 1.65 WHIP are painful, his underlying metrics paint a more promising picture, including an elite 11.53 K/9 rate. Our models expect positive regression toward his 4.11 projected ERA, and his high strikeout rate aligns closer to his strong 2024 form than his inflated early-season ratios suggest.

Flaherty is scheduled for one start this week on June 12 on the road against the first-place Guardians. He will face Tanner Bibee, who carries a 4.09 ERA, in a matchup that offers plenty of strikeout potential but some ratio risk. Given his current upward trajectory and high-strikeout floor, he is a viable starting option this week. Verdict: Start.
