Adolis García's power surge is clouded by a shoulder injury and tough upcoming matchups

Adolis García has flashed his signature power recently, launching three home runs over his last seven games, but his overall contact issues remain glaring. Over the last 30 days, he has struggled mightily, hitting just .106 with 43 strikeouts in 85 at-bats. To make matters worse, the second-place Phillies (37-31) may have to proceed without their primary right fielder, who is currently questionable with a right shoulder injury.

While the sudden three-homer burst is encouraging, his season-long .190 batting average is a major liability that aligns with a steep multi-year decline from his peak 2023 season. Our models project a modest recovery toward a .234 average with 13 home runs, but his massive strikeout rate suggests a full turnaround is unlikely. Fantasy managers should treat this recent home run spike as a selling opportunity.

The remaining portion of the week presents a brutal road trip to Milwaukee, where the Phillies face a trio of elite starting pitchers. García is scheduled to face Jacob Misiorowski (1.50 ERA), Shane Drohan (3.11 ERA), and Kyle Harrison (2.72 ERA). Given his active shoulder injury and these highly unfavorable matchups, fantasy managers should leave him on the bench. Verdict: Sit.
