Jhoan Duran solidifies his status as an elite fantasy closer during an All-Star campaign

Duran has been untouchable recently, posting a perfect 0.00 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP over his last nine innings of work. The second-place Phillies, currently 54-43 and just two games out of the division lead, continue to lean on him as their primary closer. While the bullpen has dealt with recent injuries to Lou Trivino and Tanner Banks, Duran remains the undisputed anchor at the back end, having successfully moved past the oblique strain that sidelined him earlier this spring.

His 2026 performance has been superior to our models' initial expectations, as he currently boasts a 1.40 ERA and an elite 0.93 WHIP that easily beats his season projection of 3.04. With nearly 14 strikeouts per nine innings and 24 saves already recorded, the right-hander has transitioned from a high-upside arm into a reliable top-five fantasy closer. His recent dominant stretch suggests his current performance is a sustainable baseline rather than a fluke.

The Phillies have three games remaining this week against the Mets, offering high-leverage opportunities for the man they call 'Durantula.' Matchups look favorable as Philadelphia's offense faces Sean Manaea and his 5.08 ERA, likely leading to the late-inning leads Duran needs to pad his stats. Given his current form and the team's strong push for the division lead, he is a mandatory lineup lock in all fantasy formats. Start.
