Brandon Pfaadt loses his rotation spot amidst severe struggles and a looming demotion.

Brandon Pfaadt has struggled mightily over the last month, laboring to a 9.60 ERA and 2.00 WHIP over his last 7.5 innings of work. The third-place Diamondbacks (34-33) have moved him into a long-relief role, and manager Torey Lovullo recently indicated that a demotion to Triple-A Reno is a strong possibility to get him stretched out again.

This recent slump represents a stark contrast to his career norms and our models' original season projection of a 4.79 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 171 innings. With his actual 2026 ERA sitting at a bloated 6.77 through 13 games, his current walk and hit rates are too damaging to tolerate in any standard league format.

Pfaadt is not scheduled to start any of Arizona's remaining games this week against Miami or Cincinnati, and our weekly model projects him for zero fantasy points. With his rotation spot gone for the foreseeable future, fantasy managers should comfortably move on and look for active stream options elsewhere. Verdict: Sit.
