Colson Montgomery looks to snap slump during seven-game week

Montgomery has endured a sluggish stretch at the plate, batting just .191 with one home run and 20 strikeouts over his last 14 days. Despite the slump, he remains locked in as the everyday shortstop for the first-place White Sox, who currently ride a three-game winning streak. He showed recent signs of turning things around with key run-scoring hits against Detroit over the weekend.

While the low batting average is a drag, Montgomery's power remains elite. He has already slugged 26 home runs this season, crushing our baseline projection of 18 homers. His elevated strikeout rate makes cold stretches inevitable, but his underlying power production is completely genuine rather than a fluke.

The White Sox have a full seven-game slate this week, traveling to face the Cubs before returning home for matchups against Atlanta and the Mets. Montgomery gets favorable spots against hittable starters like Kevin Gausman (4.68 ERA) and Sean Manaea (4.56 ERA), though tougher matchups against Shota Imanaga and Clay Holmes loom. Given the high-volume schedule and immense power upside, keep him in lineups. Start.
