Ryan Jeffers | Fantasy Outlook

Sidelined with hamate fracture, Jeffers targets late-July return

Ryan Jeffers remains out of action after undergoing surgery in late May to repair a fractured left hamate bone. He has accumulated no appearances over the last 14 days, leaving a significant void behind the plate for the third-place Twins (31-38). In his absence, Victor Caratini has taken over as the primary active catcher on the depth chart.

Before landing on the injured list, Jeffers was enjoying a career-best campaign, batting .279 with seven home runs and a stellar .922 OPS in 37 games. While our models project a rest-of-season average of .247 with 12 home runs, his pre-injury power metrics suggest he can easily beat those marks once healthy. However, fantasy managers should anticipate a slight delay in his power returning immediately post-surgery.

With the Twins continuing their road trip in Detroit before returning home to face St. Louis, Jeffers will provide no active lineup value for the coming week. He is currently rostered in 36% of leagues and remains a high-priority stash in any open injured reserve slot. Verdict: Sit.
