Joe Ryan remains sidelined with a glute strain as Minnesota navigates rotation depth

Ryan has been out of action for most of August after landing on the 15-day injured list with a left glute strain. Prior to being sidelined, he struggled in his lone start over the last month, surrendering seven hits over 5.1 innings. His absence leaves a major void at the top of the rotation for a third-place Twins team sitting at 65-72.

Through 23 starts this season, Ryan carries a 4.12 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 138 strikeouts across 124.5 innings, trailing our projected 3.79 ERA baseline. Even with occasional home run troubles and second-half fatigue, his exceptional 5.11 strikeout-to-walk ratio demonstrates that his dominant swing-and-miss stuff remains intact once he returns to full health.

Ryan is not listed as a probable starter for this week's matchups against the Tigers and White Sox as he continues his recovery. Fantasy managers must keep him parked on injured reserve until Minnesota clears him for a minor-league rehab assignment or mound return. Sit.
