George Springer flashes vintage power following return to the lineup

Springer has quickly found his rhythm after returning from the family medical emergency list, punctuated by a home run in his most recent outing on July 8. Over the last 30 days, he has been a versatile asset for fantasy managers, batting .271 with four homers and three stolen bases. He remains the primary designated hitter for a third-place Blue Jays squad that currently holds a 44-49 record and is searching for offensive consistency.

While his .222 season average is a significant departure from the elite .304 mark he posted last year, his recent metrics show he is trending back toward our projected .262 baseline. The 300th career home run milestone he reached in June seems to have sparked a mechanical resurgence, as his .864 OPS over the last month is a stark improvement over his early-season struggles. Given his high volume of at-bats, he remains a safe bet for counting stats.

Toronto finishes the week with a three-game series in San Diego, and the matchups are exceptionally favorable for hitters. Springer is slated to face JP Sears, Walker Buehler, and German Marquez, all of whom enter with ERAs of 4.70 or higher and WHIPs north of 1.35. Facing a rotation of struggling starters makes this an ideal time to keep the veteran in your active lineup. Start.
