Kris Bubic nears a return as he continues his rehab assignment in Triple-A

Bubic is currently on the 60-day injured list with left elbow soreness, though he has begun a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha. The fifth-place Royals, currently sitting at 38-55 and 10 games out of first, are taking a deliberate approach with his return to ensure he avoids structural damage. He is not currently on the active depth chart as he continues to build up his pitch count in the minor leagues.

Prior to the injury, Bubic displayed solid form over nine starts, recording a 4.19 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP with 51 strikeouts in nearly 50 innings. Our data remains bullish on his long-term outlook, projecting a 3.48 ERA and 1.21 WHIP for the rest of the season. His 9.29 K/9 is a strong indicator that his 2025 dominance was sustainable, making him a high-upside stash once healthy.
