Iglesias remains an elite closing option following his first All-Star selection
Iglesias was recently named to his first All-Star team after a dominant first half. The first-place Braves (57-41) have leaned heavily on him as their primary closer, especially with Robert Suarez and Joe Jimenez currently on the injured list. While he posted a 7.20 ERA over his last five innings, his 1.00 WHIP and zero walks over the last seven days confirm he remains in peak form.
Our data suggests the recent ERA spike is a fluke, as his 10.8 K/9 over the last two weeks remains elite. His current 2.43 ERA is significantly better than our 3.49 preseason projection, and his career history of 270 saves underscores his reliability. He continues to limit base runners effectively, maintaining a season-long 1.08 WHIP that provides a very safe floor for fantasy managers.
Atlanta has a full seven-game schedule, beginning with four home games against the Padres. Iglesias should see opportunities against starters like Griffin Canning, who carries a 6.95 ERA.
