Mason Montgomery firing on all cylinders with a scoreless streak

Montgomery has been untouchable over his last 30 days, posting a sparkling 1.76 ERA and a 0.69 WHIP while racking up 20 strikeouts across 10.2 innings. The setup man continues to lock down high-leverage frames for a Pirates club that currently sits third in the NL Central with a 55-54 record. Despite injuries hitting the roster around him, his spot in the bullpen hierarchy remains secure.

His recent tear is supported by elite underlying ratios, far outperforming his baseline 4.13 season projection ERA. While a 17.65 strikeouts-per-nine rate over the past month is difficult to sustain indefinitely, his swing-and-miss stuff makes this hot streak far more than a simple fluke.
