A.J. Ewing remains entrenched in the Mets' lineup despite recent slump

Ewing has hit a rough patch, batting just .174 with zero home runs and 14 strikeouts over his last 14 days. Despite the cold bat, the rookie remains locked in as the everyday starter in left field with Juan Soto sidelined by a calf strain for a fifth-place Mets squad currently riding a three-game winning streak.

While his power has stalled without a homer over the past month, Ewing's season baseline of a .249 average and 16 steals demonstrates his legitimate category utility. Our models expect his recent .202 mark over the last 30 days to positively regress closer to his projected .265 clip as his contact rate stabilizes.
