A.J. Ewing is a rising fantasy star after cementing his everyday role in center field
Ewing has been an offensive spark for a fifth-place Mets club currently sitting at 36-51. Over the last 14 days, he has slashed .317/.404/.512 with two home runs and eight RBI, maintaining his status as the everyday starter in center field. His recent graduation from top prospect lists underscores the 21-year-old's rapid and successful transition to the big leagues.
While his .300 average over the last month is slightly higher than our .265 season projection, his elite speed provides a reliable floor for fantasy managers. With eight stolen bases through 47 games, he is proving that his 70-grade wheels are a primary part of his identity. Our models expect some slight regression in home run frequency, but his high-contact approach suggests he will remain a valuable asset for runs and average.
The Mets wrap up their week with a three-game road series in Atlanta starting Friday. Ewing will deal with a significant challenge against Chris Sale and his elite 2.10 ERA, but he has much more favorable matchups against Grant Holmes (4.08 ERA) and Martin Perez (3.27 ERA). Despite some minor defensive misplays in the field recently, his offensive production is too consistent to move to your bench. Start.
