Roman Anthony remains sidelined on the injured list as he recovers from a wrist sprain
The Red Sox currently sit in fifth place in the AL East with a 36-46 record, even as they ride a four-game win streak into the final days of June. Anthony remains a significant absence for the Boston lineup, as he continues to recover from a right wrist sprain that has kept him on the 60-day injured list since early May. While recent reports indicated he has progressed to taking dry swings, he has not yet returned to game action and remains a stash-only option for fantasy managers.
Before being sidelined, the 22-year-old was struggling to find his rhythm, batting just .229 with a lone home run across 30 games. This was a notable step back from his impressive 2025 campaign where he posted a .294 average and .867 OPS, and it sits well below our season projection of a .270 average with 17 home runs. Given his pedigree and the elite .400 on-base percentage he showcased last season, we expect a strong statistical rebound once his wrist is fully healthy and his power returns.
Boston has a six-game schedule this week, featuring matchups against the Nationals and Angels. The schedule is quite favorable for hitters, as the Red Sox are slated to face several struggling pitchers, including Miles Mikolas and his 5.16 ERA, as well as Ryan Johnson who enters with an 8.84 ERA and a 1.71 WHIP. However, with Anthony still firmly on the injured list and not yet cleared for a rehab assignment, he cannot be utilized in active lineups this week. Sit.
