Valenzuela's secure volume makes him a solid fantasy option despite recent cooling

Brandon Valenzuela has cooled off slightly over the last week with a .231 average, though he remains a key contributor after delivering a dramatic walk-off hit earlier this month. The third-place Blue Jays (34-38) have locked him in as their everyday starter behind the plate following his official graduation from the prospect ranks. Despite Toronto's current two-game losing streak, his job security remains incredibly high.

Over the last 14 days, the young backstop flashed elite potential, batting .321 with three home runs and a 1.101 OPS. While this hot streak is a massive surge over his career .254 average and seven home runs, some regression is expected as the league adjusts to him. Still, his strong eye and solid .338 career on-base percentage suggest his floor remains safer than most young catchers.

This week, Toronto travels for six road games against the Red Sox and Cubs. Valenzuela faces a mixed bag of matchups, featuring soft targets like Jake Bennett (5.28 ERA) and Colin Rea (5.53 ERA) alongside aces like Ben Brown (1.74 ERA).
