Cody Ponce remains sidelined for the year following ACL surgery

Cody Ponce has not seen game action since late March and remains on the 60-day injured list after undergoing surgery to repair a right ACL sprain. The 41-46 Blue Jays, currently third in the AL East, have been forced to lean on depth options while Ponce and other veteran arms like Jose Berrios recover from long-term injuries. Recent news confirms Ponce has rejoined the team in a supporting role, but he is strictly focused on a recovery timeline that spans at least six months.

Before the injury, our data suggests Ponce was expected to compete for a back-end rotation spot, looking to improve upon a career 7.05 ERA from his time in Pittsburgh. In his extremely limited 2026 sample, he recorded three strikeouts over 2.1 innings, hinting at the high-strikeout upside he displayed during a dominant spring training.
