Kade Anderson offers intriguing strikeout upside in a favorable home matchup against the Athletics
Rookie left-hander Kade Anderson has logged a 4.84 ERA and 1.40 WHIP across his first two Major League starts spanning 9.1 innings for a third-place Mariners club that sits at 64-73 on a four-game skid. Seattle continues to manage the top prospect with an approximate 80-to-85 pitch cap, which cut his last outing short at 4.1 frames. With Emerson Hancock sidelined on the injured list, Anderson is locked into a rotation turn for the foreseeable future.
While Anderson posted historically dominant minor league numbers before his August call-up, his early big league sample shows standard growing pains, including five walks over 9.1 innings. Our models project his ratios to stabilize toward a mid-3.00s ERA as his command settles in. However, until the Mariners ease his pitch restriction, his fantasy upside remains somewhat capped by an inability to pitch deep into games.
Anderson takes the mound on Thursday for a single start at home against the Athletics, who send Jack Perkins and his 6.75 ERA to the bump. Facing a beatable Oakland lineup in pitcher-friendly Seattle offers an ideal spot for the young southpaw to generate whiffs and limit damage. Given the pitch count ceiling but elite matchup, roll him out as a high-upside streaming option. Stream.
