Jakob Junis Securing Wins and Saves in Late-Inning Role
Junis has been spectacular out of the Texas bullpen recently, posting a stellar 0.98 ERA and a minuscule 0.65 WHIP over 9.2 innings in the last 30 days. Operating as the primary closer for the second-place Rangers, who sit at 33-34, he has locked down four saves on the season and remains a crucial high-leverage option with teammate Chris Martin currently on the injured list.
While our season models originally expected a 4.02 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, his current 1.64 ERA and elite 0.76 WHIP suggest a major step forward, though some slight regression is likely. Given his outstanding control with just five walks in 27.5 innings and firm grasp on high-leverage duties, he is a sustainable source of saves and ratio help.
For the rest of the week, the Rangers continue their road trip against Kansas City and Boston, facing tough starters like Michael Wacha and Sonny Gray. Junis picked up a win yesterday and should be fresh for late-inning opportunities in the remaining four games, making him a strong fantasy option. Weekly Verdict: Start.
