Joey Cantillo limits damage despite command turbulence as Guardians chase AL Central lead

Cantillo has maintained impressive run prevention with a 2.84 ERA over five starts in the last 30 days, even as he battled control issues with 16 walks across 22.2 innings. The left-hander slots in as a reliable mid-rotation starter for a contending 69-68 Guardians team that has captured eight wins in their last 10 games.

Across 133.3 innings on the year, Cantillo has posted a 3.92 ERA alongside 145 strikeouts, aligning almost perfectly with our season-long projection of a 3.91 ERA. While his ability to miss bats provides a strong fantasy foundation, his 1.49 WHIP and elevated walk rate indicate that his recent run of limiting damage is due for moderate regression.

Cantillo is slated for a single outing this week on Wednesday at home against Toronto, where he will face a difficult opposing starter in Dylan Cease and his 2.37 ERA.
