Brock Nelson | Fantasy Outlook

Brock Nelson looks to sustain hot start as Avalanche host Blues

Brock Nelson opened Colorado's campaign in style on September 30, netting a power-play goal as part of a three-point performance while logging over 19 minutes. Centering the second line alongside Gabriel Landeskog and Nazem Kadri with second-unit power-play work, the veteran forward is well-positioned for tonight’s Central Division clash against St. Louis at Ball Arena. Both clubs sit at 1–0–0, but Colorado enters as a clear home favorite in an expected higher-scoring environment. The Avalanche will face Blues netminder Jordan Binnington (confirmed), giving Nelson another favorable setup to exploit in the offensive zone.

Our projections anticipate another productive outing for Nelson, slating him for ~1 point, a good chance to score, and ~2–3 shots on goal on his way to roughly 3.8 fantasy points. He also brings useful faceoff and secondary power-play upside. Tonight marks the second and final game of Colorado's two-game opening week schedule, bringing his projected weekly tally to 6.0 fantasy points after his earlier breakout. With top-six deployment and momentum on his side, he is an easy lineup lock. Today’s action: Strong Start.
