Simon Holmstrom | Fantasy Outlook
Holmstrom faces Maple Leafs in fourth-line depth role
Simon Holmstrom and the Islanders head to Scotiabank Arena tonight for a road matchup against the Maple Leafs. New York enters as slight underdogs in a higher-scoring environment, facing Sergei Bobrovsky (confirmed) in net for Toronto. With Mathew Barzal sidelined, New York is searching for offensive punch, yet Holmstrom remains slotted on the fourth line alongside Casey Cizikas and Emil Heineman, while seeing PP2 and PK2 duty. Through six games this season, Holmstrom has recorded two points and seven shots on goal while averaging over 15 minutes of ice time.
Our projection expects a low point expectation of ~0.5–1.0 point, ~1–2 shots on goal, and a small goal chance, yielding roughly 1.9 fantasy points. While secondary power-play time gives him a minor boost, bottom-six deployment limits his offensive ceiling against Toronto. Looking at the weekly schedule, tonight marks the third and final contest of the week for the Islanders, leaving minimal opportunities to generate fantasy value before Sunday. Given his depth role and modest floor, he should remain out of lineups in standard leagues. Today’s action: Bench.
