Daniil Tarasov | Fantasy Outlook
Tarasov relegated to backup role as Red Wings host Sharks
Daniil Tarasov is slated for backup duties tonight as the Detroit Red Wings host the San Jose Sharks at Little Caesars Arena, with John Gibson confirmed to start in goal. Tarasov has been phenomenal in limited duty this season, compiling a 0.67 GAA and a .965 save percentage with one shutout across three appearances. That sharp run sparked a noticeable waiver push, with his fantasy roster rate climbing from negligible levels up to nearly 16%. Detroit enters as a home favorite in an expected higher-scoring environment facing Alex Nedeljkovic (confirmed), but Tarasov will observe from the bench.
Because Gibson is confirmed in net, our projection models hold Tarasov to zero saves, zero wins, and no fantasy points for tonight's contest. Looking at the weekly outlook, Detroit completes its three-game schedule tonight, offering no remaining crease volume over the rest of the week. While Tarasov’s brilliant early play establishes him as an intriguing speculative bench stash in deeper leagues, he carries zero immediate floor or ceiling this evening without a starting nod. Keep him safely out of lineups. Today’s action: Bench.
