Makar stands as an elite fantasy anchor with unmatched offensive ceiling from the blue line

Entering his prime at age 27, Cale Makar remains the gold standard among fantasy defensemen. Coming off another stellar campaign with 22 goals, 59 assists, and 81 points, Makar continues to dominate ice time as Colorado's undisputed number-one blueliner, pairing point-per-game offensive production with strong peripheral coverage in blocks and shots.

Our season projections forecast another top-tier output across 75 games, projecting 199 shots on goal, 117 blocked shots, and 29 power-play points alongside a +32 rating. His heavy minute deployment and quarterbacking of the man advantage provide an extraordinarily stable floor, while his proven 90-plus point ceiling separates him from virtually every other defenseman in the league.

With a first-round ADP near pick 8, fantasy managers must pay a premium price, but Makar’s ability to generate forward-caliber scoring from the defense position justifies the early investment. He is a set-and-forget anchor capable of winning categories single-handedly when healthy.
