Erik Sabrowski struggles with command while serving as Cleveland's primary setup option

Since returning from the injured list, Sabrowski has stepped into a high-leverage setup role for the first-place Guardians, who currently lead the AL Central with a 51-46 record. His presence is vital with both Tim Herrin and Emmanuel Clase currently sidelined, yet the results have been volatile. Over his last 14 days, he has posted a troubling 8.37 ERA and 3.02 WHIP across 4.3 innings, primarily due to an uncharacteristic surge in walks.

Despite the recent command struggles, his underlying talent remains evident through an elite 20.09 K/9 this season. While his current ratios are hurting fantasy managers, our data suggests he will eventually settle toward a 3.90 ERA. This cold stretch appears to be a temporary adjustment period after his layoff, though his career history indicates he is capable of much better efficiency than his recent performance suggests.

Cleveland concludes the week with a three-game home stand against the Pirates starting Friday. While the matchup is relatively neutral, Sabrowski's inability to find the zone lately makes him a liability for ERA and WHIP. We project him for about 2.2 innings and three strikeouts this week, but it is best to keep him on the bench until he demonstrates improved control. Sit.
