Slade Cecconi | Fantasy Outlook

Slade Cecconi remains sidelined with arm fatigue as Cleveland pushes for the postseason

Cecconi has not pitched since early August after landing on the 15-day injured list due to right arm fatigue. Prior to being shut down, the right-hander struggled mightily in limited outings, surrendering five earned runs across just 2.2 innings over his last 30 days. His absence leaves the 69-68 Guardians relying on their depth arms as they sit second in the AL Central and battle for wild-card positioning.

Through 23 appearances this season, Cecconi has posted a 5.27 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP across 105.8 innings, falling well short of his solid 2025 performance. Elevated baserunners and a modest 88 strikeouts have prevented him from meeting our season projection of a 4.44 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. Given his ratio turbulence and arm issues, he is unlikely to offer reliable rest-of-season value upon his return.

Cleveland hosts six games against Toronto and Detroit this week, but Cecconi remains completely sidelined with no scheduled starts and zero projected innings. With the Guardians' rotation moving forward without him and no clear rehab assignment underway, there is no reason to roster him in standard leagues. Sit.
