Tim Herrin | Fantasy Outlook

Tim Herrin remains sidelined by elbow injury as Guardians chase division lead

Herrin remains on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow contusion suffered on July 8. Before the injury, he was a key middle-relief arm for the second-place Guardians, who sit at 52-48 and just one game out of first place. Though he posted a 4.82 ERA over his last nine appearances, his 1.07 WHIP in that 30-day span shows he was effectively limiting baserunners before being sidelined.

While Herrin’s 14 holds this season make him valuable in deeper leagues, his 1.72 WHIP and 4.06 ERA in 2026 indicate significant regression from his stellar 2024 campaign. Our models expect his ratios to stabilize toward a 3.81 ERA and 1.33 WHIP once he returns to the mound. However, his command remains a major concern, as 19 walks in 24.4 innings make him a volatile asset regardless of his role.

Cleveland plays seven games this week, including a home set against the Twins and a trip to Tampa Bay. Herrin is expected back in late July, but until he is activated and proves his elbow is sound, he offers no immediate fantasy value. Even when healthy, his matchups this week would be difficult as Cleveland faces elite arms like Joe Ryan and Shane McClanahan. Sit.
