Starting Role Within Reach as Health and Camp Battle Trend in the Right Direction
Penix has cleared a massive hurdle by returning to full 11-on-11 team drills after rehabbing his knee. Although he sat out the preseason finale, he has actively pushed Tua Tagovailoa for the starting job. If he earns the nod, he will operate an offense loaded with premier playmakers like Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts.
In nine games last season, Penix posted 1,982 passing yards and nine touchdowns. Our models project 1,500 passing yards and seven touchdowns (79.0 fantasy points) in a projected shared-season scenario. When starting, his pocket poise and downfield arm present usable weekly streaming upside.
Draft sentiment has steadily cooled over the summer, with his ADP dropping from around pick 231 in July to 271 in late August amid competition uncertainty. This shifting market price turns Penix into an enticing, low-cost stash in 2QB and Superflex leagues with considerable upside if he locks down the role.
