Luis Lara's highlight-reel glove cannot mask a late-season offensive swoon

Lara has cooled off considerably down the stretch, batting just .206 with zero homers over his last 14 days and managing only three hits in his past five games. While his spectacular, wall-crashing defensive plays continue to earn national acclaim, he remains a secondary option as the backup right fielder behind Sal Frelick for a first-place Brewers squad that has clinched the division with a 98-58 record.

The rookie's .251 batting average across 57 games is not far off our projected .275 baseline, indicating that his current dry spell is standard late-season regression rather than a complete collapse. Unfortunately, with just one big-league home run and three stolen bases to his name, his bat lacks the power or speed punch needed to provide viable fantasy upside.

The week ahead features six matchups, beginning with a formidable road tilt against Philadelphia's Zack Wheeler (2.99 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) before facing softer pitching in a three-game home set with St. Louis. Given his erratic playing time and minimal category juice, Lara cannot be trusted in standard fantasy lineups. Sit.
