Sean Manaea flashes sharp command ahead of single-start week in Texas

Manaea showed sharp command in his last outing, yielding two runs over 5.1 innings with six strikeouts and zero walks. Over his last 14 days, he has limited traffic to a 0.89 WHIP across 10.1 frames, rebounding from a rocky month for a fifth-place Mets squad (71-85) playing out the string. Holding down a regular spot in New York's rotation, he has restored his velocity and strike-throwing down the stretch.

While his zero walks across the past two weeks are encouraging, his 5.10 season ERA and 1.37 WHIP align with underlying volatility rather than his dominant 2024 peak.
