Nick Lodolo looks to correct his course and recapture his stellar 2025 form amid recent command and ratio struggles.
Lodolo has struggled of late, posting a 5.63 ERA and a bloated 1.70 WHIP over his last two outings for the fifth-place Reds (32-35). Despite the poor run, his rotation spot is completely secure with Cincinnati's pitching staff currently decimated by long-term injuries to Hunter Greene and Graham Ashcraft.
Underneath the ugly 5.71 ERA this season, there is reason for optimism. Our models project Lodolo to settle into a 4.05 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 149.0 innings, much closer to his excellent 3.41 ERA from last year. His current struggles are likely a bump in the road rather than a permanent decline.
The left-handers sole scheduled start this week comes on Friday at home against the Diamondbacks, who counter with an excellent Eduardo Rodriguez (2.52 ERA). Because of the difficult matchup and his recent inability to prevent base runners, fantasy managers should keep him on the bench for now. Weekly Verdict: Sit.
