Francisco Lindor finds his power stroke as he anchors a depleted Mets lineup
Lindor has shown flashes of his elite self lately, slashing .273 with a .969 OPS and an opposite-field home run over his last four games. He remains the everyday shortstop and leader for a fifth-place Mets team that currently holds a 40-57 record and is riding a three-game losing streak. With several key bats like Marcus Semien and Luis Robert Jr. on the injured list, our data shows Lindor is the primary engine of the offense.
His .200 average over the last month is a byproduct of his recovery from a calf strain earlier this season, but his underlying metrics suggest he is still the same player who produced back-to-back 30-homer seasons. While our model’s projection of 20 homers and 20 steals is more modest than his career highs, his current trending stats indicate he is finally shaking off the rust. Expect his batting average to migrate toward his .263 season projection as his timing at the plate continues to improve.
The Mets wrap up the week with three games in Philadelphia, starting today against Aaron Nola, who has been vulnerable this year with a 5.89 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. The weekend matchups against Jesus Luzardo and Alan Rangel are also manageable, as both pitchers enter with ERA marks at or above 4.00. Given his trending form and these favorable matchups, Lindor is a locked-in lineup option for the remainder of the week. Start.
