Brett Baty | Fantasy Outlook

Baty remains mired in an extended slump as the Mets' season continues to spiral

Baty has struggled significantly of late, slashing just .118/.250/.147 over his last 14 days without a single home run. The fifth-place Mets, currently 36-51 and 15.5 games back in the division, have kept him in the lineup primarily due to a wave of injuries to veterans like Marcus Semien and Jorge Polanco. While he remains a flexible defensive option at several positions, he has recently seen his role at the hot corner challenged by the presence of Bo Bichette.

His current performance sits well below our season projection of a .242 average and 12 homers, as he is currently hitting just .207 through 83 games. While his 2025 campaign showed a promising blend of 18 home runs and eight steals, his high strikeout rate remains a major barrier to consistent fantasy production. Unless he can recapture the power stroke that produced a 451-foot blast earlier this spring, he is a candidate for regression toward a part-time bench role.

The week continues with a tough three-game road series against a strong Atlanta rotation following an off-day. While Friday's matchup against Grant Holmes and his 4.08 ERA is manageable, the weekend is daunting with dates against Chris Sale (2.10 ERA) and Martin Perez (3.27 ERA). Given his recent inability to make consistent contact and these difficult matchups against division rivals, fantasy managers should look for more reliable options at third base. Sit.
