Cade Horton remains sidelined for the season following early April elbow surgery

Horton has not pitched since early April after undergoing season-ending UCL surgery on his right elbow. The second-place Cubs (77-60) have navigated numerous rotation injuries to maintain the top National League wild-card spot, with arms like Shota Imanaga and Clay Holmes filling the void. Horton remains officially sidelined on the 60-day injured list with no path to return in 2026.

Prior to his injury, the 25-year-old right-hander logged a 2.54 ERA across two starts, flashing the dominant form from his 2025 rookie campaign where he delivered a 2.93 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 113.8 innings.
