Ryan Zeferjahn settles into high-leverage setup duties for the Cubs

Since joining Chicago at the deadline, Zeferjahn has stepped into a key late-inning setup role for the second-place Cubs (77-60). Over his last 30 days, he has battled ratio turbulence with a 6.07 ERA and 1.91 WHIP across 8.9 innings, though he stabilized over the past week with 3.1 innings of one-run ball and zero walks. With multiple Cubs bullpen arms sidelined on the injured list, his high-leverage opportunities remain well protected.

Zeferjahn boasts potent bat-missing stuff, as evidenced by his 84 strikeouts across 54.7 innings this year. Our models project him to maintain roughly a 4.50 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over the rest of the season.
