Ben Brown | Fantasy Outlook

Ben Brown remains sidelined for the year due to persistent neck trouble

Brown has not pitched over the past month and remains on the 60-day injured list after experiencing a setback with recurring neck symptoms in late August. His prolonged absence is a tough loss for the second-place Cubs (87-69), who are riding a two-game winning streak as they push toward an NL Wild Card berth without him in the rotation.

Before landing on the shelf in June, the right-hander was enjoying a breakthrough 2026 campaign, recording a sparkling 1.89 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 65 strikeouts across 66.2 innings. While our season projections expected his ratios to settle closer to a 3.91 ERA, his high-octane strikeout stuff proved legitimate before his physical setbacks halted his year.

Chicago turns to rotation staples like Kevin Gausman and Shota Imanaga for this week's slate against Miami and Boston, leaving Brown completely out of the picture. With his campaign officially over and our projections expecting zero production down the stretch, fantasy managers can cleanly cut ties in all redraft leagues. Drop.
