Ben Brown remains sidelined with a neck strain while targeting a late August return

Brown has not pitched since late June after being placed on the injured list with a neck strain. The second-place Cubs (71-50), currently riding a three-game winning streak in the NL Central, have navigated numerous rotation absences while awaiting Brown's projected late August return. He continues his recovery and remains without an active rotation slot for now.

Prior to the injury, the 26-year-old right-hander was delivering a breakout campaign, posting a sparkling 1.89 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 65 strikeouts over 66.2 innings. While our rest-of-season projections anticipate moderate ratio regression toward a ~3.91 ERA, his ability to suppress hits and generate swings and misses establishes him as a legitimate multi-inning weapon when healthy.

Brown will not appear this week as Chicago wraps up in Washington and hosts St. Louis, generating zero fantasy projections for the scoring period. Fantasy managers in standard formats should keep him stashed in an injured reserve slot until the team announces a formal rehab assignment. Sit.
