Ryan Walker's ratios remain a major concern as he struggles to regain his 2024 dominance

Walker has endured a difficult stretch over the last 14 days, posting a 10.71 ERA and a 2.38 WHIP across three appearances. While he has managed to contribute some saves and holds this month, his lack of missing bats—highlighted by just one strikeout in his last 4.2 innings—is a red flag for a relief pitcher. He is currently serving as a middle relief option for a fourth-place Giants squad that enters the week with a 41-55 record and is looking for stability in the bullpen.

His recent performance is a stark contrast to our season projection of a 3.38 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Looking under the hood, Walker's 2026 season ERA of 8.76 and 2.12 WHIP suggest significant regression from his career-best 20.8 ERA in 2024. The walk rate has spiked and the strikeout-to-walk ratio has cratered to 1.27 this year, indicating that his current struggles are not just bad luck but a lack of command that makes him difficult to trust in competitive fantasy leagues.

The Giants head to Seattle for a three-game weekend series starting July 17.
