Speedy Rookie Weapon Aims to Earn Target Share in Crowded Bears Passing Game

Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Zavion Thomas enters the league with plenty of hype from the coaching staff and front office. Scouts have praised his game-breaking speed and versatility, calling him a potential offensive weapon who has already impressed with his professional mindset. However, before he can translate these traits into fantasy-relevant production, Thomas must first learn the offense and earn his reps in a highly competitive Bears receiving corps.

Thomas is currently operating as a primary backup behind starter Luther Burden III on the right side of the formation, with Rome Odunze and Kalif Raymond also occupying key roles on the depth chart. Our projections expect a very quiet debut season, estimating just 10 receptions on 34 targets for 122 yards and one touchdown. Without an injury to a key teammate ahead of him, consistent targets will be difficult to find.

In fantasy drafts, his ADP has steadily slipped from a peak of 366 down to 379 over the past few weeks, signaling that managers are treating him as a late-round flyer. At this price, our models view him as a speculative draft-day stash strictly in deep dynasty formats, as he will struggle to find a reliable weekly floor in redraft leagues.
