Jordan Romano is immediately relevant in Colorado after reclaiming a late-inning role

Romano was recalled on July 4th and has immediately stepped into a high-leverage role for the last-place Rockies. He secured a save against the Dodgers on July 7th, providing a much-needed boost to a bullpen dealing with multiple injuries to key relievers. Currently sitting at 38-56 and fifth in the NL West, Colorado appears ready to lean on the veteran's experience in the ninth inning as he slots in as a primary closing option.

Although his early-season ratios were inflated during his previous stint, our models anticipate a significant correction toward a 4.66 ERA for the remainder of the year. His career track record, including multiple 30-save seasons, suggests the recent strikeout surge is a return to form rather than a fluke. If he continues to miss bats at his current high rate, he will quickly move past his early-season struggles and regain his status as a reliable fantasy asset.

The week concludes with four games at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park in San Francisco. Romano faces a Giants lineup matching up against starters with mixed results, including Tyler Mahle and his 5.70 ERA, which should provide late-inning leads for Colorado.
