Jeff McNeil | Fantasy Outlook

Jeff McNeil mired in deep slump as Athletics finish out week against Rockies

McNeil is in the midst of a brutal slump, batting a mere .094 over his last 14 days and .157 over his last 30 days. Despite these struggles, the veteran remains the everyday starter at second base for the third-place Athletics. He will look to snap out of this funk to help keep his club in the AL West race.

Our models project McNeil to finish the season with a .253 average and nine home runs, which is a far cry from his former career heights but still better than his current .232 clip. While some positive regression is expected over the rest of the season, his lack of hard contact makes it difficult to trust him in standard leagues right now.

With the week already underway, the Athletics finish their slate with a three-game home series against Colorado. While matchups against struggling starters like Kyle Freeland and his 7.81 ERA are highly favorable, McNeil's frozen bat makes him a clear sit for the time being.
